Good Shepherd Celebration

On May 21st Justine Barlow, Principal and Catherine Herring, Director of Catholic Life along with three of our students from the chaplaincy group, attended the Good Shepherd Celebration in Leeds Cathedral. All the schools in the diocese are invited to process with their banners and give a presentation to support the work of Catholic Care in the diocese. The liturgy and choir was prepared and led by staff and students from St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Hunslet. They were supported by a visiting choir from Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music, Nashville, Tennessee in the United States. Our own students enjoyed seeing teachers from their primary and secondary schools in attendance but most of all, proudly representing Notre Dame as the only sixth form representatives.

As one reflection read at the celebration, on the life of a young Catholic who lived at the beginning of the 20th century, Blessed Pier, Giorgio Frassati, said, 'God's love can come to us by caring for other people'. Justine Barlow echoed this saying; 'It was a lovely occasion, for all the schools in Leeds Diocese to be together having lived out the Catholic virtues of service and compassion for others'.
