Christmas Assemblies at Notre Dame

The Christmas assemblies included the winner of the Advent poem competition. Students were asked to write a poem with the title 'Light overcomes Darkness'. The winner Tanisha Cavell's poem, along with all some other outstanding entries can be found here.

The theme of the assemblies was ' joy overcoming darkness'. Students were encouraged to think of something to help illustrate how joy, the coming of Jesus can defeat darkness.

A selection of Christmas traditions from around the world was shared, prayers and tableaux of the Holy Family with students. Prayers written by our student executive faith officer, Komeno; we even had a live baby to represent Jesus, a son of one of sport coaches. Fr Paul Grogan, the Episcopal Vicar for Education in the diocese, provided this talk which was played at all the Christmas assemblies which you can listen to here.

The assemblies concluded with music from the combined staff and chamber choirs - singing 'Silent Night'.

Justine Barlow, College principal wished all students and staff a Happy Christmas with their friends and families.
