Chapel Service Blesses New Sporting Season

At the beginning of each academic year Notre Dame’s sports teams come together in the chapel for a service to bless the new season and the endeavours of all students on the field of play.

This October, many of the college sports teams attended, including football, netball, volleyball, badminton, and basketball. All students present joined together in prayer with their teachers and coaches. Each student lit a candle as a faith action to represent the light of hope that burns within all of them.

Chary Gonzalez-Latham, Head of Modern Foreign Languages and our volleyball coach, started the service with a hymn. Two students then read the scripture and the prayers of intercession, and College Principal Justine Barlow led all present in a final prayer.

Scott Broadley, Head of Physical Education and Sport at Notre Dame, was delighted by the excellent turnout to the service and hopes for a successful year both on and off the field for our the students.
