Friday 7th January Update: Coronavirus Testing - January 2022

Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College remains committed to providing high quality face-to-face education throughout the Coronavirus Pandemic. In response to the DfE we regularly review the arrangements we have in place to control the virus.

The fundamental controls that we have in place include:

  • Encouraging good hygiene from everyone
  • Maintaining appropriate cleaning regimes
  • Keeping occupied spaces well ventilated
  • Following Public Health advice on testing, self-isolation and managing confirmed cases of Covid 19.

Advice from public health, strongly encourages all staff and students to test twice weekly at home, with lateral flow device (LFD) kits, 3 to 4 days apart. As you may have seen, there are new rules when to get a confirmatory PCR test after an LFD positive. From the 11th January 2022, if you have no symptoms but receive a positive LFD, you do not need to get a PCR test to confirm, BUT you must begin self-isolation.

If you do have symptoms, self-isolate pre-emptively and do take a PCR test. All students and staff who take routine LFDs should report all of their results through the NHS system, particularly positive ones, so that public health teams have a sense of how the pandemic is developing across the country.

If you have any questions regarding your child, please contact their Achievement Tutor or contact

Tuesday 4th January Update: Please make sure you wear a face-covering in College, including in classrooms and communal areas, unless you are exempt. Please continue to take two lateral flow tests per week and book a PCR test and isolate if you test positive. If you are exempt from wearing a mask, please collect a purple lanyard from reception. To book a COVID-19 vaccination, please click here:

Tuesday 7th November Update: All staff and students must take a lateral flow test either the night before or on the morning itself of the first day of return to term January 4th 2022. Students - please make sure you have enough home testing supplies, which you can pick up from the back of the main hall or get from your Achievement Tutor.

Monday 29th November Update: On Saturday 27 November, the Prime Minister announced new temporary measures following the emergence of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the UK.
Face coverings should be worn in communal areas in all settings by students, staff, and visitors unless they are exempt.
Students should continue to wear face coverings on public transport, unless they are exempt.
