Songs of Praise Features Notre Students

The episode of Songs of Praise broadcast on July 3 was filmed at Leeds Cathedral in the spring, and three of Notre Dame’s students were featured.

Judith Tetteyfio and Kirsten Zoleta are part of the Senior Girls' Choir at the Cathedral. Reverend Kate Bottley asked Kirsten how singing helped her faith, and she said she believed that when you sing you pray twice. In addition, Carmen Puentes Gomez, an alumna of Notre Dame, was interviewed with her family. Her prayer was to be given a smile so she could give it to others.

This episode also included the Leeds Schools Singing Programme. At Notre Dame, our choirs are lucky enough to be involved with this programme as well, and are led by Lizzie Leather, a Senior Choral Director from the Cathedral.

Director of Catholic Life, Catherine Herring, said, “It was so hopeful to see the positive contribution our students make to the music in Leeds Cathedral, but most of all to see their commitment to their faith.”
