Today our Level 2 students had the exciting opportunity to visit Leeds Trinity University as part of our ongoing commitment to preparing students for life after college. The trip, designed to give students a first-hand experience of university life, was both informative and inspiring.
From the moment they arrived on campus, students were welcomed by university ambassadors and staff who provided a comprehensive introduction to the university, its courses, and the student experience. The day began with an overview of higher education, including tips on choosing the right course and understanding the benefits of HE.
Students then split into groups to take part in interactive workshops exploring higher education myths and exploring the wide range of curriculum on offer at both the Horsforth Campus and new Leeds City Centre Campus. These sessions allowed students to explore academic areas of interest and gain a sense of the teaching style and content they might encounter at university level.
A highlight for many was the campus tour, led by current undergraduates who shared their own experiences and insights. The students got to see lecture halls, student accommodation, library facilities, and social spaces, including the brand new Health department facilities - helping them visualise what life as a university student could look like.
The trip also included a Q&A, where our students asked thoughtful questions about student finance, balancing work and study, and the transition from college to university.
Feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive, with many saying the visit helped clarify their post-18 plans and motivated them to start thinking seriously about their next steps. One student quoted 'I have enjoyed how welcoming the people are and how helpful they are today. Thank you Leeds Trinity'.
We are proud of how engaged and inquisitive our Level 2 students were throughout the day. Trips like this are a valuable part of our careers and higher education programme, and we are grateful to Leeds Trinity University for such a warm welcome.
A huge thank you to Sarah Quinn, Schools and College Liaison Officer for coordinating the day. We look forward to organising more visits like this in the future, helping our students make informed choices about their futures.
