Enrichment and Trips 2025

Employability Day
The Careers Team launched their first ever 'Employability Day' for students to explore topics such as CV writing, interview skills, mock assessment centres, and how to apply for apprenticeships. We had around 30 organisations come in to deliver sessions and speak to our students. The day helps to build upon the information given to them at HE Day and the Careers Fair, improving students' skills for when they leave Notre Dame and progress onto their next steps.

Enrichment Days
At our annual Enrichment Days, Lower Sixth students go off timetable and choose enrichment activities to get involved in throughout the day. There is something for everyone with enrichments such as plant re-potting, a FIFA tournament, chess, crime scene profiling and an escape room hosted by West Yorkshire Police.

Also on our Enrichment Days, we had Year 4 and 5 students from Christ the King Primary School in to get involved in the traditional Notre Dame animal racing. At the end of term, staff decorate and race a wooden animal created by the Product Design Department, this year was the year of the bear. The primary school students each decorated their bears however they liked, with themes such as basketball and flowers. They then competed in different heats of races in the run up to the final. There were trophies for the best decorated and race winners.

As part of the Enrichment Days, we also had trips to London, Alton Towers and various universities. The English Department took students to Haworth for the Top Withens Hike and the Media Department took students to London for a filming locations tour.

T Level Health and Health and Social Care and Applied Science students visited the University of Huddersfield for a Health Professionals Taster Day, exploring healthcare professions and university life. The day included time for students to speak with current university students, ask questions, and get advice on applying for healthcare courses, managign student life, and preparing for future careers. These informal conversations offered invaluable peer-to-peer insight, helping bridge the gap between college and university.

Trips
This year we saw a lot of students explore different parts of the world, enhancing their time at Notre Dame. In July alone, students visited Berlin, Paris, Italy, China, and Indonesia. Enriching students' experience during their time at college, they were able to explore different areas of history and culture, opening their minds to other countries.

The Berlin trip explored the history and politics of capital of Germany, with key sights including Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall and the Brandenburg Gate.

The Art and Photography Paris trip took in art galleries and cultural exploration of the city.

The Italy trip explored sights such as Vesuvius, Pompeii and Herculaneum, Sorrento and Capri.

The China trip took 23 students to visit Shanghai, Xi'an and Beijing, exploring iconic ancient sites such as the Terracotta Warriors and the Great Wall to modern wonders such as the Bund, Pearl TV Tower and Universal Studios.

The 2 week Indonesia Expedition trip explored ecology and wildlife with diving training, surveys into Indo-Pacific reef ecology, night-time bat and frogs, birds, and herpetofauna. Students have been able to contribute to important conservation work.

We also had a group of students journey on the pilgrimage to Lourdes, an annual retreat where students can grow in faith and complete acts of service by assisting others.
