BTEC Acting students delivered an unforgettable morning of storytelling and live performance for Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 pupils at Meanwood Primary School in December. As part of their Storytelling Performance unit, the students adapted three popular children’s stories, transforming them into energetic, interactive productions tailored specifically for younger audiences.
The first piece, A Christmas in Time, whisked children back to the Victorian era, exploring traditional festive customs through lively characters, humour, and immersive theatrical moments. Pupils were captivated as they learned how Christmas was celebrated in a very different time.
The second story, Beegu, followed the journey of a small alien who crash‑lands on Earth and discovers friendship in unexpected places. The actors brought warmth and emotion to the piece, helping children connect with themes of belonging, kindness, and acceptance.
Finally, pupils joined a determined squirrel on a colourful autumn adventure in The Leaf Thief. With playful physical theatre and audience participation, the young audiences eagerly helped solve the mystery of the missing leaf.
The performances were met with excitement, laughter, and enthusiastic applause. Staff and pupils praised the students for their creativity, professionalism, and ability to engage young learners through the power of live theatre.
