St Gemma’s Hospice recently visited college to deliver an engaging session to our T Level Health students on palliative and end of life care. St Gemma's Hospice is a world leader in palliative care research and the world's first University Teaching Hospice. They work to provide the best possible care for local people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.
The session supported students in developing a clear understanding of the role of the hospice, as well as the vital contribution of health professionals in providing compassionate care to individuals at the end of life and supporting their families both during this time and after death through bereavement support.
This experience has helped to prepare students not only for their examinations but also for their placements in both hospital and community settings, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to appropriately support patients and families who are grieving.
