We're proud to announce that Charlotte Stephenson, our Designated Young Carer Lead and Deputy Safeguarding Lead, has won the 'Student Support' Award at the SFCA Awards 2025. The awards initiative helps to identify, celebrate and showcase exceptional practice across the sixth form sector.
Charlotte won the award for a multitude of reasons, particularly for her work towards tackling knife crime and youth violence within Leeds, through her role in the Junior Detectives Programme; a city-wide initiative designed to raise awareness of knife crime and criminal exploitation within young people. The Junior Detectives Programme works with the Youth Justice Service, West Yorkshire Police and Leeds Rhinos. Charlotte has also worked with the Cut Short creators and the University of Leeds to implement it into Notre Dame's tutorial programme including arranging for a lived experience speaker to train our Achievement Tutor team.
Her work and practices have created a whole College impact, providing individualised support for students and parents.
