Elson Fernando, a student has just left Notre Dame after picking up his fantastic results, was offered work experience at McCann Leeds after impressing their strategy director at a careers talk in January. McCann WorldGroup is consistently ranked among the top global advertising agencies and has a vast network of offices across the world including one in Leeds.
Elson worked with McCann on a real, live project for one of their clients. Splitting his time between different departments, he led and worked on the brief through different departments in the agency. Starting with Business Leadership, into Strategy, through Creative and then PR & Social. He translated the client brief into the creative brief, immersed himself in the world of the commissioned company, developed a creative route and then explored how it came to life through social channels.
McCann's strategy director, Miles Williams said of the experience: 'His inquisitiveness, motivation, curiosity, and eagerness to learn shone through. He was dedicated, polite and professional yet friendly and genuinely interested in learning from everyone in the team about both their work and experience but also their path into the industry. We were so impressed that, should Elson be looking for a placement year or graduate course, we would be more than happy to give a reference or a contact at any of the McCann WorldGroup offices.'
Elson achieved some fantastic results this summer, including a B in Media Studies. We're sure that his future is very bright!
