Principal Honoured at Buckingham Palace Garden Party

On Wednesday 6th May, Principal Justine Barlow had the privilege of attending the first Royal Garden Party of 2026 at Buckingham Palace, held in honour of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their communities.

"Although the invitation was in my name, attending the Garden Party was a privilege I shared with the whole Notre Dame community. Everything that makes Notre Dame so special is down to the commitment, dedication and hard work of the people within it. It was an honour to visit Buckingham Palace, but the real honour was representing everything that we, as a College, stand for."

The Garden Party, one of the most prestigious events in the royal calendar, brings together people from across the country recognised for their service and determination, virtues that sit at the very heart of the Notre Dame community.

On a lighter note, the day also brought an unexpected highlight: a chance encounter with none other than Helen Worth, who is better known as Gail Platt / Tilsley from Coronation Street!
