Notre Dame Student Selected for GB U23 Deaf Football Team
We are incredibly proud to share that Zachary, one of our talented students, has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Under 23s World Deaf Football Championship in Serbia! At just 16 years old, Zachary is one of the youngest players chosen for this prestigious international tournament.

Zachary has already achieved remarkable success in football. He made his debut for the Wales Deaf Men’s team at just 15 and currently plays semi-professional football on Saturdays as well as U18 football on Sundays. In 2025, he was recognised as one of the top three young players in the Deaf Champions League Men U-21 Futsal competition in the Netherlands.

Representing Great Britain is a dream come true, but attending the championship comes with significant costs. The trip to Serbia requires £2,500 per player for travel, accommodation, training, and registration. With his brother Cameron also selected for the team, the family needs to raise £5,000 to make the journey possible.

Zachary says:

"I wish the UK government would support Deaf athletes, but they don’t at the moment. That’s why I’m turning to people I know and the public. Every donation, big or small, helps me take one step closer to the competition. I’ll keep everyone updated on my training and progress throughout the championship.”

Notre Dame is proud to support Zachary and his brother as they chase this incredible opportunity. We wish them both every success in representing Great Britain on the world stage!

You can help Zachary reach his goal by donating via his JustGiving page.
