Notre Dame Sponsors Leeds Year of Culture

Here at Notre Dame we’re proud to be a Leeds 2023 partner.

During 2023, a huge range of performances, talks, screenings, workshops, interactive and musical events will take place at venues including Leeds Playhouse, the Merrion Centre, Left Bank Leeds, The Carriageworks Theatre, Leeds Art Gallery, Howard Assembly Room, Leeds Grand Theatre, Leeds Art Gallery, Sunny Bank Mills, and Hyde Park Book Club.

The aims of the Leeds Year of Culture are to:

  • Unlock opportunities for everyone to find enjoyment and live their best life through participating in creative activity
  • Boost engagement in culture particularly among people who face barriers because of their experience or circumstances
  • Lead and showcase cultural transformation
  • Play an active role in the city and region’s social, economic and cultural recovery from the pandemic

As a college that encourages the development of the whole person, where we work together for the benefit of each person as well as the wider community, these aims are an excellent fit with our own.

In addition, four values underlie the Leeds 2023 aims: boldness, inventiveness, compassion, and confidence. All four compliment the values we have at Notre Dame, which are an integral part of our Stella Maris Leadership Award.

This is why we have chosen to join the 2023 Club and sponsor the amazing programme of events that will take place throughout the year.

You can find out much more about all the upcoming activities on the Leeds 2023 website.
