Earlier in the year, the Notre Dame Choir had the opportunity to be part of the BBC Radio 4 – Sunday Worship programme recording which was broadcast on June 8th for Pentecost.
Accompanied by Lay Chaplain, Anne Merry, they joined with young people from across the Diocese of Leeds to create a Massed Choir celebrating the Jubilee Year of Hope. With over 600 young people present the sound was phenomenal with the Jubilee hymn ending the recording on a high! Students said of the event ‘it was an awesome choir day’ and ‘a joyous experience, it was great to see everyone singing together’. One student noted how they ‘didn't expect it to sound so good!’ and that ‘it was a beautiful, harmonious moment.’ Once the choirs had finished for the day it was the turn of the Readers with Notre Dame student Connie, reading her reflection on Life as a Pilgrimage.
Following the BBC broadcast, Bishop Marcus Stock said 'I felt compelled to write immediately, to thank and to congratulate all those who collaborated with you in the celebration of the spiritually uplifting Pentecost Sunday morning service on BBC Radio 4 this morning. The beautiful music combined with Mgr Grogan’s commentary and the inspirational testimonies of some of the young people from our diocese will truly have given great hope to all those listening to the broadcast this morning. Among them was me!'
You can catch up via BBC Sounds here, Connie's reflection is approximately 19 minutes and 30 seconds into the broadcast. The recording will be available until approximately the 6th July.
