Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College has been named a finalist for FE College of the Year at the prestigious Educate North Awards.
The recognition celebrates the college’s commitment to delivering exceptional education while supporting students to develop academically, personally and socially.
Located in the heart of Leeds, we welcome students from across the city and beyond, bringing together a vibrant and diverse community. Guided by our mission to develop the whole person through academic excellence, character development and civic responsibility, Notre Dame provides a supportive environment where young people are encouraged to achieve their ambitions and make a positive impact in their communities.
In addition to strong academic provision, the college offers a range of opportunities that help students develop leadership skills, confidence and social awareness. Initiatives such as the Stella Maris Leadership Award encourage students to demonstrate values such as responsible citizenship, resilience and love of learning through practical leadership and community engagement.
Students are also supported through innovative partnerships with local employers and organisations, providing valuable real-world experience and helping them prepare for future careers. Recent initiatives have included collaborative work on the Health and Care Academy and community organisations to create meaningful learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
Principal Justine Barlow said: 'We are incredibly proud to be recognised as a finalist for FE College of the Year. This acknowledgement reflects the collective commitment of our staff, students and partners to creating an environment where young people can achieve academic success while also developing character, leadership and a sense of social responsibility that will guide them throughout their lives. Notre Dame has always been about more than exam results; it is about helping students flourish as individuals and preparing them to contribute positively to society'.
The Educate North Awards celebrate excellence, innovation and achievement across the education sector in the North of England.
Being shortlisted highlights the college’s ongoing dedication to supporting students from all backgrounds to achieve their potential and progress to successful futures in education, training and employment.
