Four of Notre Dame’s lower sixth law students recently won their second round of the Bradford University Schools Mooting Competition, conducted online.
The students worked very hard to prepare their case in defence of someone involved in criminal damage, researching a new area of law and preparing submissions and questions for witnesses, as barristers do in practice. Their professional and thorough preparation, as well as excellent spoken delivery and questioning skills, led to a win against Dixons Sixth Form Academy.
Overall, on points, our team came fourth out of seven schools in the competition. The students enjoyed this fantastic experience, and we are very proud of their achievement.
This moot, led by the University of Bradford, forms part of the Legal Futures scheme, run by teachers in the Law Department at Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College. It’s designed to support students in realising their potential in a future legal career and/or to study law at university.
