Health Students Assist Dementia Research

On Monday, Lower Sixth Health T Level students volunteered to help the University of Leeds with a research project regarding dementia and recruitment of the right staff for dementia care. The research project is titled 'Exploring the potential of situational judgement tests for attracting and recruiting care home staff suited to caring for people with dementia.' Dr Kirsty Haunch is developing situational judgement tests specifically for the dementia sector to attract, select, and retain the right workforce in care homes to help the workforce crisis within the care home sector.

The results of this project aims to create tools to help care homes attract and hire suitable staff. Promoting these tools to wider public could also reduce misconceptions about dementia care, improve its public image, and attract care staff from various sectors to dementia care.

The students' contribution was very helpful, and they all gave really clear and impressive feedback to the University of Leeds in order to support them. Thanks Health T Level!
