Gabrieli ROAR

Last week, two of our students who are members of the Leeds Cathedral Choir as part of the Schools Singing Programme, participated in two days of workshops and a concert with the internationally renowned Gabrieli Consort and Players as part of Gabrielo ROAR. The workshop was prepared by the Diocesan's expert Choral Directors, where participants learnt music by the Baroque composers Monteverdi and Vivaldi, joining over 150 singers from across the Diocese's choirs, to sign alongside the Gabrieli's professional singers and orchestra.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and expert coaching from Gabrieli's vocal coaches and the concert which was to a full audience in the Leeds Cathedral, which was directed by Gabrieli's Musical Director - Paul McCreesh.

Tom, who is the Director of the Schools Singing Programme, said 'It was a great project - expanding horizons, creating new friendships across our many choirs and showing what's possible with resilience, commitment and hard work, all coming out of the foundations of the Schools Singing Programme.  We were so proud of all the young people involved'.

Huge well done to Liam Bediako and Yaolnda Mahurera for taking part - it certainly sounds like an incredibly fulfilling experience.

Thank you to Huddersfield Choral Director Roly Mander for the photos.
