Last week, ten prospective Notre Dame students participated in our second annual filmmaking summer school offered by the Media department.
Over the course of the three days; students learnt how to use the specialist equipment and software, including a Canon 4K camcorder, DJI gimbal and DJI microphone; how to write a script in industry standard format, and how to create an effective storyboard. The students then tested this knowledge while filming their original short films 'The Great Results' and 'Mafia'. These films were 3 minutes long and have been submitted to the Into Film Film of the Month competition. Students can also add them to their personal portfolios when applying for university and apprenticeships after college.
Holly Booth, our Media Technician who ran the event said: "All students worked incredibly well in their groups to create their short films. The summer school has given them the opportunity to work together and use our equipment before joining us in September."
All students who attended are looking to study A-level Media Studies with us in September. The summer school provides a fantastic experience for students ahead of their studies, where they can already build the key skills needed for their course.
