This week, teachers Demi (Chemistry) and Holly (Environmental Science and Applied Science) took a group of Lower Sixth students to the University of Leeds for their Earth and Environmental Science campus visit.
Students took part in sessions designed to expose them to the different strands of Earth and Environmental Science including a workshop called 'The Secret Life of Clouds'. They also got to experience a geophysics lecture and see a geology lab where students used seismic data to locate the epicentre of an earthquake. Students also has a campus tour and a careers talk.
The day was informative for students and provided a great insight to Earth and Environmental Science, with really positive feedback from students that it enabled them to appreciate the vast pathways and career opportunities in this branch of science. Students who perhaps do not currently study A-level Environmental Science or A-level Geography learnt how they could apply their other science A-levels in the context of the Earth.
