Christmas Cards for Caritas Leeds

Christmas Cards for Caritas Leeds

Our Lower Sixth students have been collaborating with Catholic Care within their PTE lessons to send messages of hope and good cheer to our elderly community in Leeds and Bradford. They designed some beautiful cards and wrote about themselves and their hopes for the future. Catholic Care or Caritas is a network that provides practical resources that supports and enables social action across Leeds.

When students were asked to reflect on the activity, their comments included 'I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to bring joy to other people' and 'I loved making the Christmas cards for the elderly because not only was it a chance to be creative, but also to stop the elderly from being lonely on Christmas as I would hate for my Grandparents to be lonely on Christmas.'

It has been a fantastic opportunity for students to practise their various Catholic Social Teachings, and different virtues, such as kindness and dignity of the human person.
