Chapel Visits in PTE

In recent PTE lessons Lower Sixth and Level 2 students have been connecting with the history of our college and story of the Notre Dame de Namur religious sisters, founded by Saint Julie. Students learnt how Julie thought of education as 'The greatest work on earth,' and also visited the chapel, which is nearly 100 years old. Here they had a chance to experience the beauty and atmosphere of this special place. They were welcomed by our Lay Chaplain, Anne Merry, and heard about how they can be supported by chaplaincy, and get involved if they wish.

Lower Sixth students reflected on the chapel's peaceful setting, that is very much hidden within the Notre Dame site. Others said "It gave me a moment to think about my faith."

PTE stands for Philosophy, Theology and Ethics and provides students with a high-quality religious education that develops knowledge and understanding of key issues involved in having a specific faith or worldview, or none at all. All students have one-hour of PTE a week.

The Chapel (Or Lady Queen of Angels Chapel) is open Monday-Thursday 8-9am for students. Other prayer spaces include St Julie's Oratory that is open daily 7:30am-4:30pm and is based in MB34, there is also a Muslim Prayer Room in TB1 that is open over lunchtime.
