BID Services Visit Learning Support

Notre Dame has a specialist Learning Support Department, working with students to achieve their learning goals. This is through things like one-to-one support with specialist teachers, in-class support for those with specific needs and assistive technology to enable independent learning.

BID Services are a Leeds organisation that provides a range of specialist support services for Leeds residents who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing, sight impaired, severely sight impaired or deafblind and their family/carers. Last week they visited Learning Support with a group of visually and hearing impaired students to discuss how they can be supported in various ways at college and at home, such as with guidance to university or employment, information on available social groups for young people with similar needs and the provision and use of specialised equipment. The equipment is all free of charge to students living in Leeds.

The meeting was very productive and some students have already referred themselves for support after the introduction to the service.
