At the end of February, the A-level Business Department took eighteen Lower Sixth students to Asda Merchandising Centre for Excellence in Leeds City Centre at the Asda Headquarters. The students worked alongside employees from the Asda graduate programme to help solve real business problems that impact Asda as one of the UK's leading grocery retailers. The students participated in problem solving activities, working in groups developing teamwork and communication, where they received feedback from a wide range of Asda mentors.
The Asda Leaders project is a competition for Year 12 students to take part in various employability activities by solving real-life business problems after analysing their latest Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report to ensure that they are career ready. There is a focus on the UN's Sustainability Goals. Students get to engage with a mentor from Asda who supports them in creating a business solution as well as providing support to what Asda can offer students once they have completed their studies.
Staff and students now can't wait to return to the Merchandising Centre in summer to present their solutions.
