Yesterday, our T Level Media, Broadcast and Production students visited Aesthetica Short Film Festival in York. The Aesthetica Short Film Festival is an international film festival which takes place annually in York and is a celebration of independent film from around the world, and an outlet for supporting and championing filmmaking.
Our students attended screenwriting, a film screening, and filmmaking workshops, where they were given insight into the making of an action movie and had the chance to see a live choreographed fight with 2 professional stunt doubles. Afterwards, they discussed what it's like to work on set and the health and safety protocols they must adhere to. Students also attended a creative industries panel, where they heard a range of pathways people took into the creative industry and were offered the chance to ask their own questions.
They had a fun day networking with established industry professionals and aspiring media professionals, great preparation for their placements next year!
The Media, Broadcast and Production T Level is new to Notre Dame this year. If you'd like to find more about the course, please find more information here.
