Eight Notre Dame students have been selected to be part of a mentoring scheme offered by York St John University.
The Brightside mentoring platform will enable our upper sixth to safely connect with current students at the university. Each mentor can provide support with the UCAS application process, preparation for higher education interviews, considering career choices, and responding to university offers. Our students can ask for as little or as much help as they require, and the mentoring programme will run until the January UCAS deadline. This support will boost our students’ confidence, and help them face the challenges of applying to university with courage and determination.
This project is being overseen by Go Higher West Yorkshire as part of UniConnect’s programme of higher education outreach activities. Mr. Sam Lawrence, our Go Higher HE Progression Officer, said, "It's always a pleasure to see how effective it is for students to receive support from others of a similar age. The York St John student mentors have gone through the UCAS process themselves very recently and are really well placed to guide our students through with an understanding of what it's like. I hope that this will go a long way to helping the Notre Dame students involved secure an exciting place at the university - and on the course - they really want."
