Sports Scholarship Students Get Tough

The students awarded a Notre Trinity Sports Scholarship this year have reflected on the topic of mental toughness, thanks to a webinar from staff at Leeds Trinity University. The webinar, which took place on Wednesday 27 January, asked the students to think about what mental toughness means to them, and consider how this issue relates to different sporting case studies.

This is just one element of a programme of training and support exclusively available to scholarship students. In September 2020, the inaugural Notre Trinity Sports Scholarship was awarded to lower sixth student Aderyn Lane (you can read more about this here).

There are now fifteen scholarship students from both lower and upper sixth at Notre Dame, all chosen for their high level of achievement, commitment and dedication to their chosen sport. They will all benefit from the following:

  • Professional development at a centre of excellence for PE and sport
  • A guaranteed place at our highly sought-after Football or Basketball Academy
  • Free gym membership sponsored by Leeds Trinity University
  • Free bespoke fitness testing using state of the art facilities
  • Free Team ND kit worth £100

Mr. Scott Broadley, Head of PE and Sport at Notre Dame, said, “The students were taken through an in-depth study in sports psychology. This was the first of several undergraduate level inputs from the staff at Leeds Trinity and I am certain that the information will have been of high value to apply to the student's sports performance and their academic understanding. It was a great start to the programme’s development."
