The Show Must Go Online

Each year, Notre Dame’s upper sixth Theatre Arts students undergo a live assessment by performing in our theatre for an audience of their family and friends. In 2021, their two performances were streamed live for the enjoyment of people watching at home.

The BTEC Acting showcase took place on May 19, and the A-level Drama & Theatre showcase on May 26. These were Notre Dame’s first virtual events of this sort, and, while very different to an in-person experience, still provided an audience to give a real lift to our students’ final performance at college. In addition, those watching were able to provide live feedback using the chat facility, and the response was overwhelmingly positive, as you'd expect given the level of our students’ professionalism and talent.

Head of Theatre Arts Mr. Graham Hamlyn said, “It was a really positive experience for students to be able to feel that sense of live performance, knowing there was a virtual audience watching. We will look towards the possibility of holding more online streamed performance events to be opened up to the public in future.”
