Parents Are Top of the Class at Higher Education Event.

Wednesday 28 March saw Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College’s annual Higher Education Information Evening for the parents and carers of lower sixth students. This provided a prime opportunity to gather valuable information about the higher education journey ahead.

To kick off the event, Notre Dame Deputy Principal Dominic Kelly delivered a talk on the UCAS application process, providing an insight into the pastoral support we offer students completing it. Leeds Beckett University addressed attendees on the essential subject of student finance. Also visiting were a number of higher education institutions delivering workshops on specific subject areas including: Law, Medicine, Oxbridge, Computing, Engineering, Health, Psychology, Apprenticeships, and Teaching.

In addition to workshops, each organisation had an exhibition stand, allowing parents to browse course information, have informed discussions with a member of staff, and gain a greater understanding of what the institution has to offer. The Universities attending were; Leeds, Huddersfield, Newcastle, Northumbria, Bradford, Durham, Manchester Metropolitan, Manchester, Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam, Leeds Beckett, Leeds Trinity, York, York St John, Leeds City College and Liverpool Hope. Representatives from the Apprenticeship Hub and NCS (National Citizen Service) were also present.

This informative event provided a valuable opportunity for parents to gain a greater understanding of the support systems Notre Dame has in place and to begin building connections with universities and other organisations.
