Notre Dame Celebrates Oxbridge Applicants’ Success!

2018 has been another successful year for our Oxbridge applicants with a total of nine conditional offers received, keeping in trend with the high success rates of previous years.

Six students have received offers from the University of Cambridge: Amy Kitchingman to study English; Francesca Hunt, English; Oliver Dodsworth, Law; Laura Gerrard, Geography; Bradley Watson, Mathematics; and Matthew Tam, (Chemical) Engineering. Three students have been offered places at the University of Oxford; Elena Trowsdale, English; Eve Rooney, Spanish and Linguistics; and Joely Hopwood, Law.

The Enhancing Excellence programme, run by our staff to support students with aspirations to study at a Russell Group university, and to aid students with the rigorous Oxbridge interview process, covers key areas such as mock interviews, entry essays and exams, and group presentations.

Successful Oxford University applicant Eleanor Trowsdale praised the support she received from staff stating she felt equipped and confident going through the process. In addition to the Enhancing Excellence group, she attended Advanced English enhancement sessions run by the English department during lunch breaks, which assisted her further in securing an offer to study English. She claimed the interview was an amazing experience; the preparation provided from both groups, and support from staff, made her feel confident of her own individual qualities. She felt that the place offered was right for her.
