Further Success for Biology Students

Following on from the success of Notre Dame’s A-level Biology students in the British Biology Olympiad, 38 lower sixth students took part in the Intermediate Biology Olympiad, with four awarded a gold medal.

In early June, the students sat a one-hour multiple choice paper online, along with lower sixth students from across the globe.

Head of Biology Mrs. Sue Lowe said, “We are very proud of all our students for participating in this Olympiad, which is run by the Royal Society of Biology. Between them they were awarded three commended certificates, six highly commended certificates, four bronze medals, ten silver medals and four gold medals. Special congratulations go to our gold medalists, Kieran Bacalando, Ruby Paechter, Caitlin Parr and Joshua Turton, whose scores were in the top 5% of all entrants.”

All students who took part in the Intermediate Biology Olympiad will be able to reference this in their university applications, and should be proud of their achievements.
