Congratulations to Notre Dame alumna Rachael Loftus, who was awarded an MBE in the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
Rachel studied at Mount St Mary’s prior to her time at Notre Dame. Since then, she has worked to improve health and care across West Yorkshire, joining the board of Leeds Irish Health & Homes in 2005, and becoming chair in 2016.
She was honoured this year due to her work during the pandemic to coordinate the shielding programme for 54,000 of the most vulnerable people in Leeds. She was key to the development of a partnership between Irish community associations and other groups to make sure no-one was forgotten during the pandemic.
Here at Notre Dame, we are extremely proud of her efforts and were very pleased to hear about her MBE. Congratulations, Rachael!
