Congratulations to Notre Dame student Izzy Austin, who recently accepted a place at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance to study the Acting BA. The alumni of this internationally renowned degree course include Gary Oldman, Lake Bell and Hayley Squires. During her studies, Izzy will take part in an industry showcase at a West End theatre.
After gaining her GCSE’s at Horsforth School, Izzy joined the Notre Dame community, studying A levels in Biology, English Literature, and Drama & Theatre. During her time with us, she took a lead role in the Theatre Arts Department’s production of Neverland and was described by staff as one of our highest performing A level Drama & Theatre students.
Reflecting on the audition process, Izzy said, “Initially, I performed contemporary and classical monologues of my choice, and was given a 5-minute interview. The recall stage then happened via Skype. I was performing the same monologues but this time it was only to one member of the auditioning panel, and we worked for about 15 minutes on one monologue. About a month later they sent out offers.” And, thanks to her hard work, resilience, and confidence, Izzy received one.
Head of Theatre Arts Mr Graham Hamlyn said, “She is a real pleasure to work with and we are certain she has a prosperous acting career ahead of her!”
We wish Izzy the best of luck with her degree and beyond.
