Design Students Make a Stylish Entrance

College principal Mrs. Barlow was highly impressed by the creativity and skill of Notre Dame’s CTEC Design (Architecture and Interior) students, who recently completed scale models re-imagining the college entrance.

Undeterred by pandemic lockdowns, these lower sixth students made the most of their time back in the workshop. They worked hard to produce a range of intricate and bold models, each influenced by the style of a selected design movement. A small selection are pictured above, and in more detail below.

Design tutor Mrs. Sheward said, “The students have studied historical architectural influences, using key characteristics to influence their own design work, from Art Nouveau and Art Deco to Post Modernism. I am very proud of what they have achieved despite the difficult circumstances presented by the pandemic.”
