It has been a delight to be this term’s Chief Editors. We have thoroughly enjoyed building on the success of past editors to create a strong legacy for the future of the college newspaper and it has been particularly rewarding to be able to support our lower sixth journalists who continue to show incredible potential.
During this term, we led workshops focusing on how to develop effective characterisation in creative writing and how to undertake thorough research to ensure journalistic integrity in opinion pieces and reports.
Notable submissions to look out for in this term’s edition include a piece by former editor, Jasmine Chetham titled “Approaching 8,849 Metres – What Our Limits Reveal About Life, Death and The Mind”; a captivating analysis of extreme sports and their risks. There are also some helpful reviews of books, theatre, film and TV programmes and thought-provoking poetry and creative writing pieces, in addition to entries from five students who took part in the Notre Dame Feast Day Writing Challenge.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has contributed to the college newspaper this academic year and to wish the U6 the very best of luck in their final exams. We are hoping to follow careers in publishing and writing historical fiction novels (Em) and writing for scientific journals (Abi). We wish you all the very best with your future ambitions too.
