What do I need to study this course?
Grade 4 in GCSE English with a preference of grade 5. There is no requirement to have studied GCSE Drama (but if so then this should be grade 5 or higher). You may have suitable experience in other ways through private drama training or amateur companies. Please speak to us at enrolment if you have any queries.
What will I study?
There are two major practical assessments which require you to work with scripted plays and devise your own theatre. You will specialise in either acting, set, lighting or sound design. You will sit a written exam which will test your creative skills in making theatre. You will study two set texts and write about a live theatre visit, analysing the key components of theatre making.
A level Drama and Theatre will provide you with invaluable transferable skills which can be applied to any career. You may choose to continue drama at an accredited drama school, but students can progress onto university courses in drama, directing, acting, theatre design, and arts administration. Some of alumni now have careers in law, teaching and even veterinary science!
