What do I need to study this course?
You need a grade 4 in either GCSE English or GCSE Maths, and four other GCSEs with at least a grade 3. An interest in media or ICT is also important.
What will I study?
Students will learn about the media industry, sectors and audiences, and learn how to plan and pitch a media product. Students will also create and produce three different media products: a digital game, film/video, and an animation. By creating these products, students will develop their editing, filming and software skills. The course is assessed through coursework (75%) and supervised assessments (25%).
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to progress onto level 3 subjects in such areas as creative media, digital, or games development. Alternatively, this course can lead to employment or an apprenticeship in either the creative media or IT sectors.
Did you know?
Animation is translated from the French as “soul.” Therefore, the process of animation is actually the “ensoulment” of characters.
