BTEC Level 2 First Certificate
What do I need to study this course?
You need a grade 4 in either GCSE English Language or GCSE Maths, and four other GCSEs with at least a grade 3. An interest in media or ICT is also important.
What will I study?
Students will learn about the media industry, sectors and audiences, and learn how to plan and pitch a media product. Students will also create and produce three different media products: a digital game, a film/video, and an animation. By creating these products, students will develop their editing, filming and software skills. The course is assessed through coursework (75%) and supervised assessments (25%).
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to progress onto level 3 subjects in such areas as creative media, digital, or games development. Alternatively, this course can lead to employment or an apprenticeship in either the creative media or IT sectors.
