You will need at least a grade 3 in GCSE English plus an active involvement in sports participation with a team or recreationally.
What will I study?
This course will develop your knowledge of the sports industry and give you plenty of practical experience. It will also improve your skills in important areas such as team working and communication, which are required for a range of employment and education options. You will have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of sporting and fitness activities. It is a very practical course and will suit students who look to be active.
Practical Sport: this unit allows you to develop one team game and one individual sport. You will be demonstrating your practical skills, describing the rules of an official, and reviewing your own performance.
Anatomy and Physiology for Sport: this unit will enable you to learn more about the anatomy of the human body, particularly the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
If you want to move towards a career in the sports industry, this is the course for you. You will gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed for success in the sports sector. The Extended Certificate leads directly into the CTEC Level 3 Sport Diploma but will also improve your qualifications generally to allow you to move onto other level 3 courses.
If you show particular ability in your sports performance you could be selected to represent TEAM ND on a Wednesday afternoon in English colleges’ fixtures.
