You will need at least a grade 3 in GCSE English plus an active involvement in sports participation with a team or recreationally.
This course will develop students’ knowledge of the sports industry and give them plenty of practical experience. It will also improve their skills in important areas such as team working and communication, which are required for a range of employment and education options. Students will have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of sporting and fitness activities. It is a very practical course and will suit students who look to be active.
It is possible to combine GCSEs with this qualification.
What will I study?
Practical Sport: this unit allows students to develop one team game and one individual sport. Students will be demonstrating their practical skills, describing the rules of an official, and reviewing their own performance.
Anatomy and Physiology for Sport: this unit will enable students to learn more about the anatomy of the human body, particularly the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
This course will give students the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success when moving towards a career in the sports industry. The extended certificate leads logically into the CTEC Level 3 Sport Diploma. It will also improve students’ qualifications generally to allow them to move onto other level 3 courses.
If you show particular ability in your sports performance you could be selected to represent TEAM ND on a Wednesday afternoon in English colleges’ fixtures.
