The aim of the FESCo (Further Education Sports Coordinator) is to engage and encourage more 16-19 year olds to participate, perform, lead and volunteer in sport and physical activity. This involves the co-ordination and development of college extra curricular sporting opportunities, inter and intra college competition, leadership and volunteering opportunities and local community links between college, School Sports Partnerships and local clubs. All of which contributes to providing the students opportunity to access 3-hours of sport & physical activity as part of the Governments 5-hour offer. At Notre Dame the FESCO works directly with the students to create a programme of sport and physical activity opportunities specifically designed to fit around their academic programme and suit their individual needs. SPORTS AT NOTRE DAME Notre Dame offers all students access to an extensive weekly sports programme. The activities on offer have all been requested by the students and range from recreational activities such as swimming, cheerleading and yoga to leadership projects and competitive sports teams. Full details of all the activities on offer can be found in the Enhancement booklet available from the college. THE FOOTBALL ACADEMY Students who want to combine education and football, and seek a career in a related area, have the opportunity to study at Notre Dame while developing their sporting abilities. Contact Mr S Broadley (men) or Ms H Pattison (women) by phone 0113 2946644; fax 0113 2946006 or email s.broadley@notredamecoll.ac.uk if you want to discuss either the men’s or women’s Academy. SPORTS LEADER’S AWARD If you are motivated to develop your leadership skills and would like to join in fun group activities this is the course for you. The course will only take one year to complete and the Sports Leader’s Award is a nationally recognised qualification that will complement your academic studies. THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S AWARD
