If you have a personal problem that’s affecting you while you’re at College, you can get advice and support from Sarah Lewis. Sarah is a social worker (employed by Catholic Care), and is here to offer a completely confidential service to any student in College. You might want to see her just once, or come every week for as long as you need. People come and talk to her about family problems, stress, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, pregnancy, health worries, and a whole range of other things that could be getting you down.
You will be listened to and treated with respect, and either work out together a way forward, or maybe find out about other places you can go for help.
Sarah doesn’t usually talk to parents or teachers about what you say, unless you agree together that that would be useful. But if you or someone you know isn’t safe, Sarah would have a duty to pass that information on to someone who could help. (She’ll explain more about this when she meets you.
You can book yourself an appointment through the Student Services diary on Reception, or contact Sarah by e-mail: s.lewis@ndonline.ac.uk.
Sarah works in the Careers/Connexions room on the ground floor of the Cuvilly building, every day between 9am and 1pm.
